What Not to Pack

I know this will be common sense but someone had to try and bring these things for Carnival to have to put out a list...LOL!!

What Not to Pack


In order to maintain a safe and secure environment, Carnival permits or prohibits certain items on board.

Section 4(a) of the Cruise Ticket Contract states: Each fully paid adult Guest will be allowed a reasonable amount of luggage on board containing their personal belongings. Luggage means only trunks, valises, satchels, bags, hangers and bundles with their contents consisting of only such wearing apparel, toilet articles and similar personal effects as are necessary and appropriate for the purpose of the journey.

Permitted items must fit into checked luggage or must be in carry-on luggage that will fit the dimension of the X-ray security machine: 24”W x 16”H; there is no measurement for length as the carry-on luggage will lay flat on the conveyer belt. Note: Guests bringing the permitted one bottle of wine/champagne and/or small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages must bring these items on board in their carry-on luggage.

Roller Blades/Skates

Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Snorkel Gear
Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Skateboards
Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Golf Clubs
Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Fishing Rod (packed)
Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Tennis Racket
Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Kite (packed)
Due to safety concerns, the following items cannot be utilized on board but may be brought on board for use in port.                  
Household Goods or Tools of Trade

These items cannot be brought on board. See Part 4(b) of the cruise ticket contract.         
Coolers
Small, personal-sized coolers no larger than 12” x 12” x 12” for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage. Screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process and therefore large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage.                       
Live Animals
No guest is permitted to bring on board live animals other than qualified service animals. Permission to bring a service animal must be approved by Guest Access Services at time of booking.                            
Musical Instruments
For the comfort of all our guests, musical instruments can only be brought on board if the guest is performing and this performance has been pre-approved by the Group Department.                                   
Radios / Boom Boxes
For the comfort of all our guests, radios and boom boxes can be used with headphones or earpieces when used in public areas.       
Floatation Devices
For the comfort of all our guests, rafts, tubes and floatation devices other than those used as life-preservers (water wings) cannot be used in the swimming pools on board.
Metal Detectors
Guests are not permitted to use metal detectors on board because anything found on board would "belong" to Carnival Cruise Lines. We would then try to return the item to the guest.                                         
Wrapped Gifts
Guests may bring wrapped gifts on board; however, due to heightened security, the gift may have to be unwrapped, upon request.              
Video Game Systems/Units
These items cannot be utilized on board because of the incompatibility of the units with the stateroom televisions.               
Fish Caught on a Fishing Expeditions
The fish cannot be brought on board; it must be shipped home.

Medical gas bottles are allowed in connection with a certified medical condition but cannot be packed in baggage. Oxygen cylinders must be delivered to Guest Services and stored in a designated safe area.

Recreational Dive Knives
Allowed onboard, but must be held in custody of the Guest Services Manager or Chief Security Officer. May be checked out/in by the owner for dive excursions during the cruise.

Must be held in custody of the Guest Services Manager or Chief Security Officer. May be checked out/in by the owner for specific use during the cruise.
Volatile and highly flammable liquids such as cigarette lighter fluid.
